Grant Application Guidelines
Required Proposal Attachments:
- A copy of your most recent IRS 990.
- A copy of your IRS tax-exempt letter as described in Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”) and evidence of its IRS status as a public (rather than private) entity under Section 509 (a) of the Code or government units described in Section 170 of the Code. If your organization is classified as a 509 (a) (3) Supporting Organization we need to know what type you are: Type I, Type II or Type III with an explanation indicating why you are classified as such.
- A statement signed by your executive officer that the IRS determination letter is current and has not been revoked.
- A current list of your organization’s Board of Directors.
- A completed copy of The Powell Foundation’s Nonprofit Governance and Financial Management Questionnaire
- A list of the previous and present year’s funders including project, date and amount awarded.
- A copy of your current operating budget along with your organization’s purpose and a summary of your activities.
- A copy of the line item budget of the proposed program/project.
- A list of community partners (excluding funders) for your organization & specific program/project requested.
- A list of up to six measurable goals and targets to determine the impact of your organization, program or project during the period for which grant funds are requested to assist with evaluation.
- It is preferred that videos or large brochures not be submitted with proposals.
